The Basics - My Base-ground

"Square One" for me

Driving tractors was The Thing to learn by a guy of that day and age, to master and to compete on, from small ones to multipurpose ones to fork loaders to big tractors, tractors around irrigation systems, spraying machines, harvesters, you name it.

One of the obvious, rather advantageous, brain damages I have brought with me is the ability to reverse with anything with a wagon attached like a pro, as a pro. Anything else would be embarrassing, to me anyway.

And what would they say in the kibbutz?..

Without even being aware of the thought, I observed all those mechanical and social interfaces I encountered and learn how to master or at least to operate with. I studied all those complex systems and drew wisdom, conclusions, opinions on what worked well, and what didn’t.

Mentors and grown-ups around me were everything from enthusiastic and inventive - to whom I was drawn to and who gave me my passion. And there were also those who were a total opposite - ignorant and nonchalant.

Everything gives something. Contrast gives perspective, a good thing per se. But If I were to choose, I would have chosen the passionate ones of course, any day. The spirit, the powerhouse of energy, inventive brain, experience and passion, and has the “can-do” attitude is exactly what I have always seen myself as, and related to naturally.
