The Red Queen Run
“The most curious part of the thing was, that the trees and the other things round them never changed their places at all: however fast they went, they never seemed to pass anything: ‘I wonder if all the things move along with us?’ thought poor puzzled
Alice. And the Queen seemed to guess her thoughts, for she cried, ‘Faster! Don't try to talk!’"
—Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking-Glass

Between us is merely geographical distance
We’ve seen each other somehow less, but we miss you more.
Honest to God, resources have gone to a child we adore
Another year is passing by – let it make a difference
It’s a lot of content and news,
The content of which never seizes to amuse.
But then again, we skid through to December
This year though, I’ll give you something to remember
The more we earn, still poor we stay
But the hours and the days just fly away.
And more often than not the less we enjoy
What differs the man from the boy is the price an the size of his toy
A red queen race against a landscape running even faster
The question is, why run?.. That I can only assume:
World economy is the wheel and I am the hamster
Why am I struggling, what have I gained and for whom?
What’s the purpose of it all? Is there any?
There may be none, or perhaps many…
Maybe it is time to take a pause and think.
A night sleep might let it slowly sink.
Take a rest from the mundane red queen run
Because nothing is new under the sun.
It’s hard to be human, so give yourself a break.
You may be surprised what a difference it’ll make.
Longing for a climax, it’s a plateau we get
Troubles and triumphs on a continuum, with the bias we set.
Why not accept it and get squirts of happiness as we go along
Gliding along from time to time might not be so wrong.
Happiness is the process of doing what you love and loving what you do.
Not a goal in the horizon, but rather life through and through.
Going for the happiness in the horizon, you’re most likely never to arrive.
The horizon never gets any closer, regardless how you strive.
Heaven is just next door, but also hell.
And standing in the corridor, at times you cannot tell
Failing at clairvoyance, it implies you should decide
Avoiding the forks in the road means putting life aside.
The rich get richer, the poor get poorer
The more my previous assumption gets surer.
Don’t have the save the whole world, just change yours
Perhaps this way, we might cure our sores
Let the world be your oyster, anyone else would
But not all want exactly the same as you, although they could
Take a bite, there is an abundance to share.
Make this one yours, but let us others know you care.
One more thing needs to be told:
PLEASE don’t shape your being after devil’s mould
And don’t sell your soul to anyone…Or is it already sold?..
